Started looking into distributive computing. I was able to setup a cluster using hadoop. I initial used two linux machines. Then was able to add my mac mini to the cluster. I found some bugs but overall an easy setup. Over the summer planning on writing some c++ programs to run on my cluster.

apt-get install selinux-basics selinux-utils checkpolicy policycoreutils selinux-policy-src selinux-policy-default

bug needed to ln -s /usr/sbin/load_policy /sbin

DNS Migration

Finished migrating dns to my vm instance on my local network. This was my first time using bind9 on ubuntu. the process was pretty easy.

Note:

tail -f /var/log/syslog

That came in handy when debugging dns on ubuntu

Ubuntu local mirror

I setup a local mirror of the hardy repository. Stored on my server blake.inside at /Storage/Repos/

Needed to copy the apt-mirror binary to /usr/bin/ and edit /etc/apt/mirror.list

I also added apt-mirror to cron running at 4 am

I then updated /etc/apt/sources.list on each of the Ubuntu clients

What happens when the need Ubuntu is released?

Need to do some updating
